About Dangers of Weight Loss Pills

It’s no secret, most diet pills aren’t completely safe. But there’s a line between mild side effects and diet pills that could actually kill you! Most of us judge by what’s hot right now, and while stimulant free products are making a comeback, we don’t necessarily think about what’s dangerous and what’s safe. We don’t even look at the ingredients list half the time, which is important when you consider the fact that some of the biggest “stimulant free” formulas have green tea or another form of caffeine!

But it seems like every year, there’s a new FDA warning letter or ban emerging. In 2009, the biggest recall came from Hydroxycut, recalling 14 of their biggest product because of the death of an 18 year old from complete liver failure after using one of their products. But more recently, the FDA released a list of 72 different substances and diet pills that are considered to be dangerous or deadly! Some sneak in prescriptions and others are actually completely natural. But it’s something to keep in mind. So how do you avoid this?

Don’t Assume Natural Means Safe

Do your own research. Ingredients like yohimbine may seem appealing. But yohimbine has never actually been clinically proven to do anything, and it has been proven to contribute to heart attacks, strokes, and liver failure! So why isn’t yohimbine banned, considering it causes the same side effects as ephedra without weight loss? Because ephedrine is a major ingredient in methamphetamines, and yohimbine is not according to some.

Don’t Assume FDA Approved Means Safe

Technically, all prescriptions have to be FDA approved. But if you haven’t noticed, prescriptions aren’t actually safe. Just think about prescription Phentermine, the most popular prescription on the market, or for that matter Alli. Neither are exactly safe or side effect free.

What Can You Trust?

There are plenty of natural ingredients out there that are both clinically proven and safe. For example, glucomannan has been clinically proven to suppress appetite, and it improves regularity, because it’s a natural fiber. But glucomannan has not been associated with any major side effects. And it’s not the only one. There are multiple others such as evodiamine, razberi-k, and guggul to name a few.
